Head GB Cycling Coach Shane Sutton has Bleeding on Brain after Cycling Accident
Less than 24 hours after Bradley Wiggins was injured in a collision with a van his coach, Shane Sutton, has also been involved in a road traffic accident whilst out cycling on the A6 in Manchester. However, it would appear that the accident Mr Sutton was involved in was of a more serious nature, as Mr Sutton has bleeding on the brain and is expected to be kept in hospital for a number of days.
Bradley Wiggins was released from hospital earlier today with a broken rib and broken finger and is recovering at home.
A spokeswoman for British Cycling said, “It is extremely rare that our riders and coaches are hurt while out cycling on the road, even rarer that two incidents should occur in a short space of time, and we wish Shane and Bradley a speedy recovery".
This second incident, involving Shane Sutton, is likely to fuel the debate for changes to be made to the law regarding cyclists, especially as it is two high profile and, one would assume, experienced cyclists who have been injured.
